Having grown up in the house and moved away, the owner and her partner sought to renew and restore a deteriorated 1920’s two-family and adapt it for the needs of their family. The interior was completely gutted, a new stair added, porches modified and rebuilt, new windows, siding, roof, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC installed. A custom window seat was added and front porch rebuilt to take advantage of great views toward Boston.

The detached garage was also re-built. As part of the process, the scope of work was defined, and then pared back to essentials to fit within a tight budget, with each trade-off carefully evaluated.
