Residential Addition & Renovation, Lexington, MA. Located on a hillside lot with southern exposure and serene forested views to the rear, the house is a 1950’s “contemporary” with an open floor plan and large windows to the east and west.  The owners wanted to add a family room and master bedroom suite and open the house to light and views to the rear.  A dilapidated greenhouse addition was demolished and a ground level family room and upper level dormers were added.  The new work respects the style and character of the original house and enhances the visual and physical connection between interior and exterior space. The new family room features a stained concrete floor with radiant heating, and built-in cherry cabinets.  The master bedroom suite includes custom closet “shoji” doors, concrete bathroom counters, and a bamboo-lined shower.

A second phase of work included enlarging the dining area, renovating the kitchen, and further development of the indoor-outdoor relationship between the house and the woodsy, hillside lot.
