Residential Addition & Renovation, Lexington, MA. The
owners of this 1880’s “village colonial” wanted to
expand and renew it and address its limitations. A range
of design options was explored
within the constraints of lot size and budget, and a variance obtained
for an addition to the rear. The work included removing an older addition
at the rear of the house and incorporating that volume in the new 2-1/2-story
addition. The addition features a new kitchen and family room that offers
a more open and expansive living space while respecting the scale and
character of the existing house. Also included in the scope of work was
a new master bath and dressing room on the second floor, a new “treetop” sewing
room on the third floor, new finishes and lighting throughout the house,
new windows, HVAC, roofing, and siding. Work was completed in 2002.
